I received an Arc of this fantasy read by The book scenes tour.
I had no idea this book was part of a series when I got it, but the author did an incredible job of producing a complex and well-written novel that felt like a standalone, which I greatly appreciated. The storey was delivered from the perspectives of three female characters. Naiya is a water nymph that dwells near a mill in a pond. Hilda is the miller’s wife, and Amina is the baker’s youngest daughter. This story is about these three females, and we learn a lot about them because to the author’s excellent writing.
This story is about a wish granted by Naiya and the effects it has on the lives of everyone involved. Because wish is granted, and Naiya requests Hilda’s first new born in exchange. However, the mother refuses to give up her child, who subsequently becomes Amina’s husband. The second half of the novel is about Amina’s mysterious adventures in quest of Phillip.
Well, I truly adore the fact that it is a novel about three female protagonists, and the author has done a fantastic job of developing them. The characters are well-developed; And they’re bold, brave, and surprisingly relatable. I enjoyed reading VJ Astrid’s book and am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. This is a book I suggest to everyone who enjoys fantasy retellings with adventure and well-written stories and characters.
