The Folk of the Air series By Holly Black. Book Review!

Spread the love

I can’t wait to read the rest of the series after finishing The Cruel Prince. I thoroughly enjoyed this entire series and became a fan of Holly Black as a result. In this blog, I’ll go over the entire The Folk of the Air series.

Initial Impression of the Plots!

The Wicked King is the second instalment in The Folk of the Air series. This book was definitely better than the first, and it was probably my favorite of the entire series, owing to all of the storyline twists. I stayed up way too late to complete this book because it kept me on my toes the entire time I was reading it. This was a fantastic read for me.

The Queen of Nothing is the final book in the series, and I really enjoyed it. It’s definitely my second favorite after The Wicked King. I liked seeing how nicely the foes to lovers cliché was executed, as well as seeing all of Jude’s other relationships and affiliations. I also liked how Jude doesn’t change much throughout her adventure, but how she does change contributes to the plot and overall tale. The finale, I thought was a little apparent and underwhelming, and I wished Holly Black had done more with it, although I liked the ending we did receive.

My Final Thoughts

Jude is the main character, and while she was difficult to relate to, but that was part of her appeal. She is determined not to be a puppet to the Faerie’s. Jude’s ultimate goal is to rise to power. The descriptions are fantasy-worthy, but it isn’t all glamour.  These faeries are darker and scarier. Author Holly Black has created a world and story by evoking an uniqueness that keeps the reader on edge.

The Folk of the Air series is a lovely and at the same time a brutal story that is full of betrayal and surprises. The plot moves at a breakneck pace, but I never struggled to keep up with its twists and turns. You’ll stay up late reading this enthralling story. After a long time, I finally got into a fantasy novel. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy novels.
