Finally, I’ve decided to write about the Infernal Devices trilogy, often known as The Clockwork Angel novels. The fact that the name of my blog and book are similar is not a coincidence ( if not I based the name of the blog on the book). This series in the Shadowhunters universe is one of my favorites. The Characters we meet in the first book of the series are what I enjoy about it.
Clockwork Angel is the first novel in Cassandra Clare’s Infernal Devices series, and the fourth book we’re reading for this Shadowhunter mission in the order provided by Cassandra Clare herself! This is a YA fantasy novel with paranormal element;, but rather than being set in modern-day New York it is set in the 1870s in London. Tessa Gray, the main character, is on a search for her lost brother. And then she’s push-ed into the world of ShadowHunters and dark fantasy underworld.
Tessa is one of my favorite Character ever. Will and Jem have irreversibly captured my heart. Will’s and Jem Carstairs relationship is well writt-en. The entire tangled plot is well-paced and fascinating. The entire time I was reading this book, I was completely absorbed in it. There are also a slew of fantastic supporting characters. Of course, the setting is ideal – a bleak and ominous ghostly Victorian England. Most importantly, Tessa’s character is so relatable to me. She is curious, kind, a reader, innocent, and obtains her notions about romance and the world from books ( did I mentioned I loved her already?).
Favorite part of the books
The location and time period were the first aspects of this book that fully captivated me. Because I am a historical fiction enthusiast who enjoys books set in the past. London was likewise characterized in the same way that I envisioned it from this historical period: gorgeous at first, yet devoid when examined closely. I really enjoyed the way the Shadow world was portrayed and introduced. There are so many scenes in the book that I adore. There’s something about the first book in a series that makes everything seems like a whole new universe. Will’s debut to her is brash and action-packed. The tone of her introduction to Jem is kind and lovely. The complete betrayal that occurs on the Institute’s stairs astounded me to my core, and it still gives me Goosebumps when I think about it.
Overall, I give The Infernal Devices By Cassandra Clare 5 out of 5 stars. Clockwork Angel contains enough intrigues and unsolved issues to keep a reader interested in the Infernal Devices series. Every YA fantasy literature fan’s library should have at least one novel set in the Shadowhunter universe. Clare has transformed this world into something very unique.
